जब वैष्णवों के सरताज श्री कृष्ण ने देखा कि कंस का मित्र बकासुर उन पर वार करने की कोशिश कर रहा है तो उन्होंने अपने दोनों हाथों से बकासुर की चोंच को पकड़ लिया और सभी ग्वालों की उपस्थिति में उसे दो हिस्सों में फाड़ दिया, जैसे बच्चे वीराण घास के पौधे को फाड़ देते हैं। इस तरह दैत्य को मारकर श्री कृष्ण ने स्वर्ग के निवासियों को बहुत प्रसन्न किया।
When Krishna, the leader of the Vaishnavas, saw that Bakasura, a friend of Kamsa, was trying to attack Him, He caught hold of the two parts of his beak with His hands and tore it apart in the presence of all the cowherd boys, just as children tear apart the stalks of the virana grass (gandar). The inhabitants of heaven were very pleased at Krishna's killing of the demon in this manner.
