The moment of death is considered the ultimate exam of human life in Vedic philosophy. Krishna states in the Bhagavad Gita (8.6) that whatever state of being one remembers at the time of leaving their physical body, that state they will attain without fail in their next life. For a pure, unalloyed devotee of Krishna, the destination is completely transcendental.

At the time of death, a pure devotee whose mind is fully anchored in the Holy Name, form, and pastimes of the Lord breaks completely free from the jurisdiction of material nature and the cycle of reincarnation. They do not take birth again in any material planet, nor do they merge into the impersonal light. Instead, they are transported directly to the spiritual sky, specifically to *Goloka Vrindavan*, the highest spiritual planet.

Upon entering this realm, the soul is granted a permanent, non-material spiritual body (*Siddha-deha*) that matches their innate spiritual disposition. They enter directly into the eternal, unceasing daily pastimes of Radha and Krishna, participating as a friend, servant, parent, or maiden. They experience an ever-increasing, expanding state of transcendental bliss (*Ananda*), permanently free from the anxieties of time, decay, old age, and suffering.
